Code of Conduct
We all deserve to coexist in an environment where we are treated with equality, dignity, and respect. Burlington Beer Company (BBCO) is committed to cultivating a safe space for employees, guests, and vendors alike.
BBCO is an equal employment employer and has a Zero Tolerance Policy with regard to discrimination, harassment or any behavior or language that is abusive, offensive or unwelcome. We strive to maintain a space in which all humans are treated equally, regardless of their race, color, ancestry, national origin and/or citizenship, age, religion, physical or mental disability status, military status, gender, sex, pregnancy status, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, transgender status, genetic information or marital status. Our working environment is based on mutual trust and the absence of intimidation, oppression, and exploitation.
In addition, all BBCO employees, guests, and vendors are also expected to support an inclusive environment by adhering to the following conduct standards:
Contribute to a positive environment that is free of hostile and offensive behaviors; i.e., free from harassment. Harassment is defined as; any unwelcome or inappropriate verbal or physical action; or coercive behavior, where the behavior is known or reasonably ought to be recognized as unwanted or unwelcome.
Treat others with dignity and respect at all times.
Address and report inappropriate behavior and comments that are discriminatory, harassing, abusive, offensive or unwelcome.
Seek out insights and foster teamwork from employees, guests, or vendors with different experiences, perspectives and backgrounds.
Use welcoming and inclusive language, avoiding gendered language that may lead to biases or perpetuate gender stereotypes (for example, do not refer to female employees as “dear,” “hon,” or “sweetheart.”)
Be open-minded and listen when given constructive feedback regarding others’ perception of your conduct.
Value the impact of one’s actions or words over the intention behind those actions or words.
Any employee, guest, or vendor who feels harassed or discriminated against should report the incident to a Manager, Floor Manager, or to the Human Resources Manager. BBCO will investigate all reported instances of questionable or unethical behavior. In every instance where improper behavior is found to have occurred, the Company will take appropriate action. Employees who are found to have violated this Code of Conduct will face disciplinary action – up to termination. Guests who are in violation are subject to refusal of service, and relationships with vendors who are in violation are subject to termination.
On behalf of the entire BBCO team, we thank you for your help in creating a safe and respectful space for everyone to enjoy!
